The 2023 edition recognises 95 restaurants across the two territories, comprising 78 venues for Hong Kong and 17 spots for Macau. It was attended by the city’s top chefs, restaurateurs, and food enthusiasts. This is the first time the ceremony has returned to a physical format in three years because of the pandemic. As well as an understanding that "appetizer" and "soup" normally come before the main course - not half an hour or so after - or else not at all.The highly-anticipated unveiling of the Michelin Guide’s 15th edition for Hong Kong and Macau culminated in a live event hosted at the Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau and Grand Lisboa Macau on April 26, 2023. I'd rather spend double or triple that for good sushi and decent service. Well, not really, because I don't think the food we got was worth $24.95. Dare I say it? "You get what you pay for". I suppose we could have put up with the haphazard order of serving IF the food had been great or even good - but sadly there was NOTHING special about the place. ![]() All in all it was a VERY, VERY disappointing evening (and we noticed similar complaints from the table next to us). When we said (for about the fourth time) we were still waiting for our appetizers after the sushi, and then said "you know we never did get what we ordered" all we got was "Sorry". The miso soup never came at all, nor did the gyoza, nor did the yaki tori. Finally (after being there about an hour) out came my Tom Yum soup - which was very lemony broth with a tiny square of green pepper and one very dried out shrimp. Eventually we got our little plate of tempura vegetables - ok, and then our three tiny shumai, which were totally bland. They were barely cooked making the crust not browned or crisp. After we had finished that, we waited and finally out came to tempura shrimp we had ordered. Very tasteless sushi and absolutely nothing artistic or pleasing about the presentation. One was supposed to have mango on top - didn't, one had those nasty crab sticks in it - but we didn't order anything with crab in it. Within minutes out came our sashimi and sushi - when we expressed surprise we hadn't yet gotten our soups or appetizers, the girl said "oh we just bring things when they are ready." The three "special" rolls all seemed virtually the same and all were quite tasteless. ![]() We ordered several appetizers and each a different soup, then we ordered several pieces of sashimi and three "special" rolls. But 10 minutes or more later we were still waiting to be greeted, get water, or get someone to open our bottle of wine we brought. holding the one remaining table for us, so we were seated immediatly. We had made a reservation and I must say they seemed to be. Not a buffet, but "freshly prepared to order" sounds good - but was really pretty bad. Should have known an "all you can eat sushi" was going to be a bad idea. Hotels near (EWR) Newark Liberty Intl Airport.Hotels near Hidden Spring Lavender Farm.
